Climbing 101 |
| Our group beginners class. Learn the basics of climbing, including belaying, body positioning, hand and feet positions, and techniques for moving more efficiently. The class is limited to 6 students to ensure plenty of individualized instruction. Students should wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring an open mind! Climbing 101 is recommended for students 14 years old or older. |
Lead Climbing (part I) |
| Learn how to lead climb in Texas Rock Gym. This class covers advanced lead belaying techniques, proper clipping of quick draws and anchors, and lead climbing technique. The class does not include the lead test, and the test is not given on the same day as the lead class. Students must have their own harness and must be a registered TRG belayer prior to the class. Students should be comfortable climbing 5.9s, and a large locking carabiner and belay device are helpful, but not required. |
Take it Outside! (lead climbing part II) |
| This class builds on the indoor lead climbing skills to prepare you for lead climbing outdoors. This class covers clipping your own quick draws, anchoring at the top anchors, and re-rigging for lowering or rappelling. Students must be TRG lead certified prior to the class. Personal tethers (slings, daisy chains, or chain-style tethers) and a few small locking carabiners are helpful, but not required for the class. |
Intro to Rappelling |
| Never been rappelling before? This will give you the basic skills for rappelling on a single or double rope. Students should be a registered TRG belayer prior to the class, but it is not required. |
| Top Rope Anchors |
| This class will cover the basic styles of rigging top rope anchors; including 2-bolt scenarios, trees and/or boulders, and multiple anchor points. Students should be a registered TRG belayer prior to the class, but it is not required. |

All forms of rock climbing involve substantial risk of injury and all participants must assume full responsibility for any and all such risks. All unregistered climbers and belayers must complete and sign our Liability Waivers prior to participation in any climbing activities at Texas Rock Gym. Participants under 18 yrs of age must have our Liability Waivers signed by their parent or legal guardian.
